What is software asset management?

Software asset management refers to ¡°the entire process from purchase of software to sustained post management.¡± Generally, it is easy to think of software asset management as post management, but, because it is necessary to survey whether the software to be purchased is in stock, recognize the terms of agreement, make selection according to the demand of the items to be purchased, and adjust the purchasing quantity accordingly in order to purchase software, one can say that the scope of software asset management is the entire process that includes purchasing.
